Karros had gone 1-for-12 with a walk and two strikeouts over his previous four games. His homer Tuesday ended a 19-game stretch without a long ball. The third baseman hasn't been able to tap into much consistent power this year with just 10 homers over 112 contests. He's slashing .265/.361/.424 with 44 RBI, 58 runs scored, 20 doubles, two triples and five stolen bases.

Rockies' Jordan Romano: Converts 11th save

Romano had allowed three runs over his first two outings in August, but he settled in for a steadier performance Tuesday. Despite some bumpy patches, he remains the Rockies' closer and has converted seven of eight save chances while adding a hold during his time with Colorado. Romano has a 6.27 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB through 18.2 innings between the Rockies and the Angels this season while converting 11 of 14 save opportunities.

Rockies' Tomoyuki Sugano: Bounces back Tuesday

Sugano (12-5) allowed two runs on six hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Sugano has three quality starts and four wins over five outings since he returned from a bout of back spasms. In that span, he's given up just 11 runs over 29.1 innings, though he's been tagged for eight home runs, including a pair of solo shots in Tuesday's outing. With 24 homers allowed this season, the long ball has been the main cause of the few struggles Sugano has had. He's at a 4.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 66:26 K:BB through 113.2 innings over 21 starts. His next start is projected to be in a matchup to avoid, as he's lined up to get the ball at home against the Dodgers early next week.
Colorado designated Julien for assignment on Tuesday, per Kyle Newman of The Denver Post.
With Julien slowly losing out on playing time, the Rockies decided to DFA the 27-year-old. The left-handed-hitting Julien batted just .208/.322/.292 with three home runs and 20 RBI in 276 plate appearances this season. The Rockies recalled Zac Veen on Tuesday to replace Julien on the active roster.

The Rockies recalled Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
This is Veen's first stint of 2026 with the big-league club after he logged 37 plate appearances with the Rockies last season. The 24-year-old has slashed .327/.402/.635 with 24 home runs, 87 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 445 plate appearances with Albuquerque. The Rockies designated Edouard Julien to make room for Veen on the 26-man roster.
Hughes (0-4) allowed seven runs on five hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Monday.
For the second start in a row, Hughes has allowed a season high in runs. He had largely kept things competitive in July, but with 12 runs allowed over his last 9.1 innings, he's starting to falter. He has posted a 5.61 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB through 33.2 innings over seven games (six starts) in the majors this season. He's projected to set a new career high in innings across all levels if he remains in the Rockies' rotation, but the workload increase is expected to be modest overall. Hughes' next outing is projected to be in San Francisco over the weekend.
The Rockies recalled Norby from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
He'll be joining the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Tyler Freeman (back), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. Before being traded to the Rockies a week ago, Norby appeared in 65 games at the big-league level for the Marlins this season and slashed .203/.313/.325 with six steals and four home runs across 233 plate appearances. Norby played exclusively at third base and first base during his time at Miami, but he's also seen reps at second base and in left field at the Triple-A level this season.

Rockies' Tyler Freeman: Heads to IL with back pain

The Rockies placed Freeman on the 10-day injured list Monday due to lumbar pain.
Freeman will hit the IL for the second time this season as a result of a back issue. The earliest he can return is Aug. 19, but he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury before the Rockies have a better feel for when he might be ready for activation. The Rockies recalled infielder Connor Norby from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move.

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Idle for series opener Monday

Tovar is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Cole Carrigg will draw the start at shortstop while Tovar retreats to the bench for the Rockies' series opener in Arizona. Tovar had started in each of the last seven games, going 8-for-24 with one home run, one double, two walks, five runs and three RBI.
Goodman went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Sunday's 7-4 loss to the Cardinals.
Goodman opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning before coming through again in the eighth, taking George Soriano deep for a game-tying solo homer. Goodman has continued to provide plenty of power since the All-Star break, batting .254 with seven home runs and 18 RBI across 18 games. Through 108 contests this season, he's batting .254, while his 34 homers trail only Yordan Alvarez and Kyle Schwarber (35) for the MLB lead.

Rockies' Michael Lorenzen: Takes no-decision vs. Cardinals

Lorenzen did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out one over 4.1 innings.
Lorenzen struggled with traffic throughout the afternoon and was fortunate to escape with only four runs charged to him, two of which were earned. The veteran right-hander has now surrendered at least seven hits in four consecutive starts while failing to complete five innings in any of them. It's been a brutal season overall for Lorenzen, who owns a 6.83 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 81:46 K:BB across 112 innings. He's slated to make his next start on the road against the Giants.

It wasn't a typical performance for Karros, but he was productive nonetheless. He reached base in the first and third innings and stole second base on each occasion, and he later lifted a sacrifice fly to provide an insurance run in the ninth frame. Karros has continued his strong season since the All-Star break, hitting .294 with eight RBI and 10 runs scored across 16 contests.
