Mariners' Gabe Speier: Battling back injury
Speier was unavailable for Tuesday's game against the Yankees due to back discomfort, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Speier returned from his two-game suspension Tuesday, but back issue prevented him from getting into the game. It's unclear whether his injury is severe enough to warrant a trip to the injured list, but the Mariners will likely monitor his status closely over the next couple of days.

Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Supplies Seattle's lone run Tuesday
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during the Mariners' 3-1 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday.
Both teams were held scoreless through five innings, but Arozarena got the Mariners on the board in the sixth inning with a solo home run off Ryan Weathers. It was Arozarena's second long ball of August and 15th of the season, and he's inching closer toward reaching the 20-homer mark for a sixth consecutive year. He has an .816 OPS across 478 plate appearances, which is his highest in his last six seasons in the majors.

Mariners' Bryan Woo: Tosses five scoreless frames
Woo did not factor into Tuesday's decision against the Yankees, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five across five scoreless innings.
Woo worked around two baserunners in the first inning before allowing just two more Yankees batters on base over the next four frames. He sported a 6.32 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 31.1 innings spanning six starts from June 24 to July 30, but he's kept his opponents scoreless in back-to-back starts and is up to seven consecutive outings in which he's struck out at least five batters. Woo will take a 4.15 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 132.1 innings into his next start, which is lined up for this weekend on the road against the Astros.

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Out of lineup with wrist soreness
Naylor is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Yankees due to right wrist soreness, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
Naylor tweaked the wrist on a swing during the Mariners' previous homestand and will get the night off Tuesday versus Yankees lefty Ryan Weathers. Weston Wilson is starting at first base and batting eighth for Seattle. Since the All-Star break, Naylor is slashing .312/.376/.455 with five doubles, two homers, six RBI, nine runs scored, five stolen bases and a 7:10 BB:K across 85 plate appearances.

Mariners' Nolan Kingham: Scooped on waivers by Seattle
The Mariners claimed Kingham off waivers from the Rangers on Monday.
Kingham made his major-league debur earlier this month for the Rangers before being designated for assignment. He's now joined a new 40-man roster but will report to Triple-A Tacoma. Kingham holds a 6.99 ERA and 44:17 K:BB over 46.1 innings at the Triple-A level in 2026.

Mariners' Stuart Fairchild: Returns to Seattle on MiLB deal
Fairchild has gone 2-for-8 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base in two games for Triple-A Tacoma since re-signing with Seattle on a minor-league contract Saturday.
After being dropped from the Mariners' 40-man roster Tuesday, Fairchild cleared waivers a few days later and elected to become a free agent Friday. He ended up working out a new deal with the Mariners a day later and will continue to provide the organization with outfield depth at the Triple-A level.

Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Inefficient in loss
Hancock (6-7) allowed two runs on nine hits, one walk and a hit batsman while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Rays on Sunday.
Hancock put too much traffic on the basepaths early. He wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning and stranded runners in the second and third frames before the Rays were able to scrape runs together in the next two innings. This was Hancock's third straight loss, and he's allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 25 hits and four walks over 15.2 innings in that span. Overall, he has a 3.35 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 111:30 K:BB through 121 innings over 22 starts. Hancock's next start is projected to be on the road in Houston.
