Top Seahawks News

  • Seahawks' Leonard Williams: Brings down Maye in season opener

Williams recorded four tackles (three solo), including 1.0 sacks, in a 13-10 victory against New England on Wednesday.

Williams' sack came late in the fourth quarter on the Patriots' final drive, which ended with an interception. The veteran defensive end recorded 18.0 regular-season sacks over the past two seasons and is off to a strong start in that regard in 2026. Williams also averaged 63 regular-season tackles between 2024 and 2025, which boosts his value as a fantasy IDP asset.

  • Seahawks' Devon Witherspoon: Five takedowns in win

Witherspoon recorded five total tackles in Wednesday night's victory over New England.

Witherspoon went without a solo tackle in a regular-season contest for the first time since his rookie campaign in 2023, but he was still a big part of a defensive effort Wednesday that included three interceptions of Patriots quarterback Drake Maye. The cornerback was on the field for 70 of the team's 71 total defensive snaps, and after inking a record-breaking four-year, $132 million contract in August, there are high expectations for him in 2026.

  • Seahawks' Nehemiah Pritchett: Comes up with interception Wednesday

Pritchett recorded six tackles (five solo) and two passes defensed including an interception during Wednesday's 13-10 win versus the Patriots.

With Seattle down seven early in the fourth quarter, Pritchett swung the momentum hard by tipping up a deep pass intended for Romeo Doubs to himself and returning the pick for 30 yards. The play set up a Seahawks touchdown to tie the game at 10-10. Pritchett played 53 of Seattle's 71 defensive snaps in Week 1, and he may have earned himself more consideration for playing time moving forward.

  • Seahawks' Julian Love: Notches interception in victory

Love recorded six total tackles (four solo) and an interception in Wednesday's 13-10 win over New England.

Love was on the field for all 71 of the team's defensive snaps, helping limit the Patriots' quarterback Drake Maye to a 54.9 passer rating in the victory. The safety's biggest play of the game came in the fourth quarter when he jumped in front of a pass intended for DeMario Douglas deep down the field, securing his first interception of the year. Love was limited to just eight regular-season contests during the 2025 campaign due to a hamstring injury, and he's now started off 2026 with a standout performance.

  • Seahawks' Josh Jobe: Seals Seattle win with pickoff

Jobe tallied six tackles (five solo) and intercepted a pass in Thursday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Jobe made the defensive play of the game for Seattle, stepping in front of a Drake Maye pass intended for Mack Williams in the end zone with less than 30 seconds remaining to halt New England's attempt at a comeback. That helped Jobe get his 2026 campaign off to a strong start after he logged a career-high 12 defensed passes over 16 regular-season games last year. Jobe played 70 of the Seahawks' 71 defensive snaps Wednesday and figures to take on a near-every-down role during the campaign.

  • Seahawks' Brady Russell: Nabs two catches in season opener

Russell caught both of his targets for 20 yards and notched one tackle on special teams during Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Russell was on the field for 17 of Seattle's 50 offensive snaps as well as for 20 special-teams snaps. The two receptions were the first two catches (and touches) of his NFL career. Russell played a career-high 58 regular-season offensive snaps over 17 games last year, and Wednesday's workload suggests he may continue to increase his involvement in 2026, though he's not likely to be a desirable fantasy option given his role.

  • Seahawks' Drew Lock: Likely to make at least one spot start

Lock is likely to start Week 2 against the Cardinals, as Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reports that Sam Darnold (hip) is expected to miss at least one game.

Lock stepped up in relief after Darnold was hurt in the first quarter of Wednesday's season opener, as the backup guided the Seahawks to a 13-10 win over the Patriots while finishing the game with 187 passing yards and one touchdown. Darnold hasn't officially been ruled out for Week 2, but the Seahawks are likely to take a cautious approach with their starting QB since the strength of Seattle's team is the defense, so Lock is in good position to hold the fort effectively while Darnold recovers. Lock has a 10-18 career regular-season record as a starter.

  • Seahawks' Cooper Kupp: Has TD nullified after nice 24-yard catch

Kupp caught two of three targets for 35 yards in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Kupp turned the tide with a spectacular one-handed grab for 24 yards in the third quarter while the Seahawks trailed 10-0. He thought he had a seven-yard touchdown three plays later, but the scoring play was nullified by an illegal shift penalty. Seattle would settle for a field goal to kickstart a 13-0 run to end the game. Kupp finished a distant second in receiving yards behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba's 122, which could be a preview of the team's pecking order in the passing game all season. Sam Darnold (hip) exited in the first quarter of Wednesday's win, and Drew Lock is likely to be Seattle's starting QB in Week 2 against the Cardinals while Darnold's on the mend.

  • Seahawks' Emanuel Wilson: Two touches in Seahawks debut

Wilson rushed twice for three yards and wasn't targeted in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Wilson worked as a distant third option in Seattle's backfield behind Jadarian Price (58 yards on 12 touches) and George Holani (29 yards on eight touches). As long as Price and Holani are healthy, Wilson is unlikely to get meaningful playing time, and Seattle's backfield could get even more crowded once Zach Charbonnet (knee) comes off the PUP list.

  • Seahawks' Elijah Arroyo: Non-factor in Week 1 win

Arroyo wasn't targeted in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Arroyo was on the field for 11 of Seattle's 50 snaps on offense while AJ Barner played 44 snaps and caught two passes, suggesting there is still a substantial gap between the Seahawks' top two tight ends. After flashing some receiving upside during the preseason, it looks like Arroyo may not get enough playing time to make much of an impact on offense, at least while Barner is healthy.

  • Seahawks' Rashid Shaheed: One catch in season opener

Shaheed caught one of three targets for four yards while adding three kickoff returns for 80 yards and a nine-yard punt return in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

After some offseason whispers about a larger role on offense for Shaheed, that didn't materialize in the season opener, as he wasn't among the five players who recorded multiple catches for the Seahawks. The standout return man maintained his prominent role on special teams, and he was on the field for 33 of Seattle's 50 snaps on offense. Shaheed is likely to have Drew Lock as his quarterback Week 2 against the Cardinals, as starting signal-caller Sam Darnold (hip) is likely to miss that game after exiting in the first quarter Wednesday.

  • Seahawks' Sam Darnold: Receives good news on hip injury

Darnold (hip) received "really, really good news" regarding his injury, according to coach Mike McDonald, ESPN.com reports. "His hip is intact, and it's good," McDonald said Thursday.

Darnold underwent testing for his hip injury suffered in the season opener, including an initial CT scan followed by an MRI. The results are encouraging, as Darnold is believed to have "dodged a bullet" and is only expected to miss minimal time. An appearance for Darnold in Week 2 does not look likely at this stage, but the Week 3 game against the Commanders on Sunday, Sept. 27 is an optimistic but possible return date. Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Darnold is primarily dealing with hip soreness.

  • Seahawks' AJ Barner: Two catches in Week 1 win

Barner caught both of his targets for 13 yards in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots.

Barner was on the field for 44 of Seattle's 50 snaps on offense, so he remains firmly entrenched atop the tight end depth chart. He also had a short rushing gain from under center erased by an offensive offside penalty. Barner tied for second on the team in catches, as the Seahawks didn't get much production in the passing game from anyone other than Jaxson Smith-Njigba (eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown) in a game that saw starting QB Sam Darnold (hip) exit in the first quarter. Darnold is expected to sit out Week 2 against the Cardinals, in which case Drew Lock would draw the start under center.

  • Seahawks' Sam Darnold: Expected to miss at least one game

Darnold (hip) is expected to miss Seattle's Week 2 game against the Cardinals, Ian Rapoport of ESPN and NFL Network reports.

Darnold avoided a major injury, but he's likely to miss at least one game as a result of the hip injury he sustained in the first quarter of Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots. Assuming he's ruled out for Week 2, Darnold will have 18 days of recovery time between Wednesday's win and Seattle's Week 3 road game against the Commanders. Drew Lock, who threw for 187 yards and a touchdown after replacing Darnold on Wednesday, is expected to get the Week 2 start under center.

  • Seahawks' Sam Darnold: Dodges bullet but could miss time

Darnold (hip) is expected to miss some time due to the hip injury he sustained in Wednesday's 13-10 win over the Patriots, but the Seahawks believe their starting quarterback has "dodged a bullet," Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Team doctors are still reviewing the results of the MRI that Darnold underwent on his injury Thursday morning, but the early results suggest Darnold isn't facing a long-term absence. Drew Lock looks likely to be tabbed as the starting quarterback for the team's Week 2 road game against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 20. Lock threw for 187 yards and a touchdown following Darnold's first-quarter exit in Wednesday's season-opening win.
